General instructions regarding file formats:
The JPG is the one you will use in most circumstances for day-to-day, in-office applications and this format is posted on this web site in both black & white (BW) and in color (RGB). It’s fairly high resolution to ensure the sharpest output. It can be sized readily in other applications. Don’t use it for places larger than 6 or 8 inches. As a pixel-based image, it’s resolution dependent; that is you can’t enlarge it indefinitely without seeing degradation or pixilation. That’s what the eps file is for ...
The eps file is only good for commercial printing, i.e. having posters made up, banners, or stationary. Letters are generated from vector paths, so it allows for the crispest type. But since MS Word doesn't recognize eps, it isn't a good format for everyday use. You aren't likely to be able to open the eps unless you have Illustrator or Freehand, but your commercial printer will have the software that can.
